Acme Visible Records (1950)

Acme Visible Records, a manufacturer of office filing systems, opened a major plant in Crozet in 1950.

The arrival briefly made the village an industrial as well as agricultural employer, foreshadowing the larger Morton Frozen Foods chapter that would follow three years later. Acme manufactured the visible-edge filing equipment that medical practices, insurance companies, and government offices used through the mid-twentieth century.

The plant operated for decades before eventually closing as the office-filing market shifted to electronic records.
